One site was for a program called Folder Guard Lite. It has an evaluation mode available which will eventually cost $24.95 ($US I think) after 14 days. | 45439 | 2002-04-24 19:40:00 | Hi Alan I use a program to protect my Diary so no one can get into it. Its FREE so try it from http://www.necrocosm.com Its called 'Password Protection System Lite. Its a small program and very easy to set up - I am using Win98, Pent 4 and I think it will also work with other systems as well.It is the best one I have found so far. Good luck |

| 45441 | 2002-04-24 21:24:00 | If free password protection is what you seek, winzip 7 and 8 have password protection. After 30 days you would get a nag screen. PGP is free and very secure. Another free for non business use is Scramdisk which has upto 128bit encryption and upto 4 passwords, this creates a virtual drive which you can set the size on. If you want to spend money, there is FolderGuard, Magic Folders, to name just a couple. In winzip, even if you have used the password function, that will not stop someone from seeing what sort of files are in the folder, they still cannot be opened though without the password. |

| 45444 | 2002-04-28 05:29:00 | You can stop people seeing what files you have in a winzip file if you put the winzip file with the files into another winzip file with another name. Messy but you can add another password for added protection. After you extract and amend the file you want hidden,rezip and close it, Winzip will ask if you want to update the unamended copy in the top zip file, so you don't have to add it again if it is kept open also.
