| 45763 | 2002-04-26 09:06:00 | I have win 95. I recently recieved this error as a blue screen error. It has been causing problems ever since. It said the following: Terminating thread due to a stack overflow problem. A VxD, possibly recently installed, has consumed too much stack space. Increase the settings of 'MinSPs' in SYSTEM.INI or remove recently installed VxD's. There are currently 3 SPs allocated. Can someone please help urgently! Thanks |

The stack overflow error is caused by a driver using up its allocated 'stack page' (memory), then depleting the 'spare stack pages' (Number of = MinSPs) that windows keeps on hand to loan to greedy drivers. You can try as the message indicates, and increase the value of MinSPs (in Win95 go Start, Run, 'Sysedit'). Select System.ini and search for an entry such as 'MinSPs=4'. Increase the value from 4 to 8. Close and restart. Chances are though, you have a buggy driver and need to re-install/update the driver. |
