| 45677 | 2002-04-26 00:00:00 | Ok so I'm going to have to upgrade my CPU...I go out...buy a Intel Celeron 950/128/100/1.75v Chip (So I don't exactly know what I've brought) and it wont fit in where my AMD K-6 chip is, they look the same the are the same size....do I need something else to make it fit or have I just wasted my money??? TIA |

It will most probably only accept an Intel Pentium up to 200-300 MHz. Your best bet is to read the motherboard manual and see what is the max. spec. AMD cpu, else get a m/b to take the Celeron. Always RTFM! |

If its super socket 7 it will take a maximum cpu of K6 2 550MHz and poss an Intel P 233MHz mmx cpu. If you want more processing power you will have to upgrade, at the least, your mother board. 'square peg won't fit in round hole' If you still have your receipt take that crappy celeron back and get a AMD duron 900 and new mother board because you are going to have to get a new motherboard anyway..The duron will run rings around a celeron and be less than half the price approx $120.00 compared to $220.00 |
