45624 2002-04-25 09:56:00 I have recently formatted the HDD (using FDisk) into C: & D:
W98SE is on C: & W2K on D:
All is going well on both OS except for the modem. W98se is fine with a good connection at 40K but W2k is always disconnecting. I have installed the correct drivers for each OS but there appears to be one difference.
W98se shows a Modem Enumerator & a Modem in the Device Manager but W2k only shows the Modem & no enumerator.
MOdem is a D-Link 56k internal with Conexant chip.
I want to be run W2k as main OS as it is proving to be more stable & run apps better.
Any help would be appreciated.

45625 2002-04-27 23:50:00 Hi,

Its unusual for Windows 2000 to disconnect occasionallly, when it is more stable in Windows 98?

Windows 2000 doesn't need an enumerator so I wouldn't worry much about that. Its only required in 9x systems.

If the cause of the situation is from the updated driver from the manufacturer, then try letting windows 2000 instead use the one from its own [default driver]and then dial up a internet connection.
