1298022 2012-08-31 01:10:00 Win XP Pro IE 8 My home page is Google but when I open a tab Babylon pops up as a search engine.
I have deleted all references to Babylon in 'Add Remove Programs' in Control Panel
I can't find any reference to Babylon in msconfig Start Up
I have run CCleaner and Malwearbytes without finding any reference to Babylon
I don't know if it's a good search engine but when it starts telling me I have won a prize I get suspicious.
Any ideas on how to rid my computer of this? Thanks

1298023 2012-08-31 01:17:00 Go to manage search engines in IE, and delete it. If its there. I take it, you uninstalled it, if it was in add/remove programs? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1298024 2012-08-31 01:21:00 Where do I find manage search engines Speedy?

1298025 2012-08-31 01:59:00 Ok I have found it in Manage Search Providers but the remove button under Babylon is greyed out.
Will I have to find a registry fix?

1298027 2012-08-31 02:16:00 I ran Hijack this and deleted one reference to Babylon but it is still there when I open a tab! DavidW (532)
1298028 2012-08-31 04:19:00 Ok I have found it in Manage Search Providers but the remove button under Babylon is greyed out.
Will I have to find a registry fix?Its greyed out because you uninstalled it with add/remove programs first. You have to change the default search engine first, then remove from the search providers/uninstall. Try making another search provider ( google) as default then it "may" allow you to remove Babylon.

In IE you have two locations, Toolbars and Extensions,& search Providers, it has to be removed from both.

Here is an evidence , go to comment statistics and see the number of peoples comments and rating . 1298030 2012-09-01 02:53:00 I eventually found a registry edit that stopped Babylon appearing but now how do I get google as the screen when I click on a tab?
Currently a tab opens a screen saying 'What do you want to do next' with options

1298031 2012-09-01 04:02:00 As long as Google is your home Page; Open IE/ Tools/ Internet options/ General Tab/ Tabs- Settings - Select " when A new Tab is Opened. Open" - Your first Home page:
