| 1297269 | 2012-08-27 09:59:00 | Hi there, Anyone know anything about this search engine SEARCHSAFER that has suddenly appeared on my computer? Looking on Google it appears to be a trojan but I have run my trojan program and it dosen't bring up any problem. There are several suggestions for removing it but they look complicated so I just wonder if I was to use them will they be virus programs themselves? Or is it just harmless. Regards. Mervselm |

| 1297270 | 2012-08-27 10:05:00 | Well, basic question first. You said you ran your trojan program, what is it? I would recommend running a virus and malware scan (MSE and Malwarebytes are the best), and I'd also run a Hijack This log scan and post it here. | Nick G (16709) | ||
| 1297271 | 2012-08-27 10:19:00 | I Googled it and nothing about trojans came up. But it found searchsafer.com as being a browser hijacker. use Malwarebytes and post a hijack this log file on here for someone to check out , as Nick suggested. LL |

| 1297272 | 2012-08-27 22:16:00 | I also Googled , this is what I found - fakeprogramsremovaltool.blogspot.co.nz . It is one of the dangerous fake websites that pretend to be legitimate . It makes me think be extremely careful because it can lead to - Searchsafer.com roots into the system without your consent. >Searchsafer.com brings other malware to your computer. >Searchsafer.com hijacks, redirects and changes your browser setting >Searchsafer.com displays annoying ads while you surf the web >Searchsafer.com steals your privacy and reduces system security >Searchsafer.com is difficult to uninstall. Do what Nick G Said - Run Malwarebytes , MSE but I would also run something like Spyware Terminator -download.cnet.com . Also run a Hijack This log scan and post it here . Hope this helps . |
