1296608 2012-08-24 06:16:00 I have almost always had two computers, currently I'm up to two desktops, a netbook, and a tablet. I used to use the 2nd PC a lot, but lately I find it gets used once a month going to the LAN and hardly at all in between so I'm considering moving all my best parts into the gaming beast and selling off the other one.

What I'm after is a bit of a sanity Check on my pricing and any other comments you'd like to add.

I'd be selling;
Case:CM Storm Scout case
PSU: 650W (will have to check the brand but it's a good one)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P67-UD4-B3
CPU: 2500K Clocked at 4.1Ghz
Cooler: either a Hyper 212 evo or an antec Kuhler 620 water cooler
RAM: 8GB either Gskills Ripjaw or Corsair Vengeance (prob the Gskill, the corsair originally had issues on this board)
GPU: Gigabyte GTX560Ti
HDD: 1 TB WD black or maybe a Samsung
DVD: Asus DVD-RW
OS: Windows 7 Home premium 64bit

I priced it all up new at around $1900 for current prices and most of the gear is a little over a year old. I'm thinking it should sell on trademe for somewhere in the $850 - $1200 region.

So Here are my questions to all you helpful people;
1) Does my pricing ($850-$1200) seem about right? too high, too low?
2) Which of the two coolers would you keep (other CPU is a 3570K @ 4.2 currently using the 212)
3) Would you sell the 120GB intel SSD with this and how much would it add to the price? (I'm planning on getting a larger OS SSD now that prices are a bit lower)
4) Is it crazy to have two almost identical gaming capable PCs in the first place ?

Originally the Idea was to keep the Gaming PC purely for gaming and do everything else on the other one, but over time the number 2 PC turned into basically a clone of my gaming beast with a slightly weaker graphics card, and the gaming machine ended up doing almost everything anyway. I do like having a media centre set up in the lounge but honestly hardly ever use it.

You may notice a lot of the parts are in my signature, This is basically my current gaming machine transplanted into my old case with the SSD and Graphics cards swapped out. The other PC is an ASUS Z77/ Intel 3570K based machine.

1296609 2012-08-24 06:37:00 I would think around the $1000 mark would be pretty good. Wouldn't sell the SSD with it, and I have no clue re the coolers. Nick G (16709)
1296610 2012-08-24 07:04:00 My main concern is the 560ti, not a particularly valuable piece of hardware but the job it does is the most important job in a gaming pc. icow (15313)
1296611 2012-08-24 08:30:00 Around $1000 does seem fair (which probaly makes my pc worth $500! :-( )

The cooler will make no difference to value and you should keep the SSD cos you wont get your money back on it and you can never have enough hard drive space. Especially with the size of games now.

1296612 2012-08-24 08:34:00 Yep. Rage is about 21 GB! Keep the SSD. ChazTheGeek (16619)

Not crazy, when I had the watercooling setup I considered it because it was such a hassle dismantling computer and moving it around etc. But then I figured the hassle of keepin two sets of games up to date is even more hassle plus I didn't really need watercooling!

Yeah keeping the software in sync between the two is a pain in the butt. I use microsoft's synctoy to match the two steam folders but it's not fast. I'm often at my monthly LAN meeting looking for a particular piece of software then realising it's on the other machine.
