1273753 2012-05-05 14:10:00 If you’re afraid of heights, this toilet might have you feeling a little flush.

That’s because it’s suspended on a glass floor at the top of a 15-story elevator shaft, according to The Daily Mail. The bathroom is part of the PPDG Penthouse in Guadalajara, Mexico that architects Hernandez Silva Arquitectos say was designed with “concepts of transparency and the simplicity of materials” in mind.

It’s not the only restroom in the world to offer unexpected views, however. A glass-enclosed toilet in Japan was recently named the world’s largest because it’s situated in the middle of a 2,000 square-foot garden. Architect Sou Fujimoto aimed to design a toilet for users "to enjoy this scenery and that feeling of release."

Still, among commodes at high altitudes, the PPDG’s toilet doesn’t stack so high. A waterless toilet that's regarded as the highest in Europe in Mont Blanc, France sits at around 14,000 feet above sea level, according to Spiegel Online.

Likewise, rumors persist that the highest interior space in the Chrysler Building is home to a porcelain throne.

1273754 2012-05-05 22:52:00 I always thought Auckland's Sky Tower deserved the nickname of the "Long Drop". It's as visually appealing as a collection of concrete sewer pipes stacked end on end. And in fact, looks like one.

I wish Aucklanders - and Kiwis - would stand up against this sort of monstrosity being erected in their midst. Architecturally, we're on a beer budget, and at the mercy of idiots who give us crap like the "Beehive" - designed on a paper napkin after a few too many at lunch, countless featureless blocks of glass and assorted veneers. And the Skytower.

Apologies, Joe, I'm not meaning to hijack your thread. But your toilet is really as adventuresome as our long drop. Now, if the architect installed a traditional Japanese squat toilet made of glass ....

I would never consider any comments as a hijack - not at all. Thanks for the insight too.

1273757 2012-05-06 01:42:00 I would have thought the sight of the bottomless pit would make one clench rather than release.:D

Another thought, possibly would have been amusing watching the waste products disappearing into the nether regions (down a glass pipe perhaps), nah, perhaps not :yuck::yuck:
