1273451 2012-05-04 00:35:00 I think that I would be hard pressed to train my cats to fetch me a beer. My cats only hang round the fridge because they know that is where I keep their cat food.

Cats train their owners to do things for them. Dogs can at least be trained to do things for their owners.

1273452 2012-05-04 01:11:00 No thanks.
It would be covered in stinky dog slobber.
In fact the entire house would stink of dog as they do......

1273453 2012-05-04 01:23:00 Yes I think that the dog slobber would be a put off for me too.

I always remember when I was doing a paper run in my teens. I all of a sudden started getting complaints from people in a certain area who were not getting a paper. The culprit was soon found in the form of a dog that had been trained to bring in his master's newspaper. Not content with that the mutt had decided that all the other papers in the neighbourhood should be delivered to his maser's house as well. Now is that a clever dog. :(

1273454 2012-05-04 11:39:00 Our cat's job in the morning is to retrieve and bring in the plastic wrap off the paper which we screw up into a ball and throw up the drive. She takes this job very seriously, except in wet weather when she stands at the door and watches and waits. She's a Burmese. TideMan (4279)

Ours is to keep the neighbours rat population under control. This she does in all weathers. However since the WhackARat episode she has not retrieved any and bought them in, which suits us just fine.
