1272998 2012-04-30 22:53:00 Have been speaking to a friend who quite often goes away with his wife for the weekend – particularly in the summer – and spends Saturday and Sunday with a crowd of friends of a similar ilk. When I enquired as to where he went, he told me Swanson and I wondered what might be the attraction in that part of the world and he told me, a little reluctantly, that he went to the sun club. Why would you want to go to Swanson for the sun when a spot on the beach sounds much more inviting? The difference is, he assured me, the people that he goes with.

After asking a few more questions he admitted that he went to a naturist club. It seems to me, I said, that the terms ‘sun club’ and ‘naturist club’ are just nice words for nudist club. He said that was right although they prefer not to use the term ‘nudist.’

The conversation with my nudist friend and his reluctance to tell me where he went and what he did told me that he was very aware of the stigma that surrounds the practice of going naked and it made me wonder what other people thought about taking off all your clothes amongst many other people also completely naked. My thought was that it might be okay if all the females were young, lithe and sexy and all the men were of a similar age and well hung. Unfortunately, I was assured that that is not the case and most members were either in their forties to sixties and sagging in all the wrong places.
What then, I asked, was the attraction? He said that it was just the feel of the sun and the breeze all over your body. Being naked, he said, is an experience that they really enjoyed and an experience that should not be missed. Perhaps, I replied, but it’s a bit chilly at this time of the year. He told me that if it is cold they will pursue indoor activities.

What do other people think of your activities, I asked, thinking, in particular, about his reluctance to tell me how he spent his weekend. He told me that not too many people know what he gets up to in the weekend as many people are against nudity and would not understand their desire to take off all their clothes. I’m not certain that I understand it, particularly at this time of the year, but then I suppose if they are not offending anyone it seems a harmless enough pursuit.

I wondered what other people thought about going naked. Is it something that you might consider? How would you feel (apart from a bit chilly) about spending the weekend with no clothes? What do you think about nudity in general? Nudists call it natural. Do you think it natural? Or would you rather that nudity stayed in the bedroom and bathroom? Your opinions, please.

1272999 2012-04-30 23:21:00 I'm told that the first few days are the hardest...

I can see nothing wrong with it at all. As long you don't hurt anyone, if it feels good do it!

1273000 2012-05-01 00:22:00 When i go tramping, if I am camping in a very remote place I often sit in the sun naked. But it has to be somewhere remote and I never do that unless I'm tramping solo, I would not consider joing a sun club though and would never do it near civilisation. Usually it's because I just had a skinny dip in some mountain stream and need to warm up again gary67 (56)
1273001 2012-05-01 00:41:00 I think that they can do that if they like, its their prerogative
I would be too embarrassed with my 1 inch tool

1273002 2012-05-01 01:53:00 Swanson sun club.

I wondered what other people thought about going naked.

Long time ago I worked at place out west where the owners were members of this club. Their daughters - both under 10, thought it was great too and loved going there.
They worked on their (gardens) business naked too, although he would don his plant apron when us staff turned up.
We were told we could wear what we liked to work - colleague used to wear a bikini, I stuck to shorts and a tshirt. (It was hot in the glasshouses)

Me - I think it's fine if you have a nice body - doesn't have to be young necessarily, just in fairly good nick. If it's not, then I think you shouldn't scare the animals..........I certainly wouldn't be seen dead now without clothes....it's bad enough with clothes....

Didn't bother me about my employers especially, I just thought there are a whole bunch of reasons to wear clothes - mosquitos, sandflies, thorns, appearance, sunburn, temperature, the season - winter for instance, and not too many for not wearing clothes - but hey, they were reasonably fit so whatever they wanted to do.....

1273003 2012-05-01 05:40:00 Thought the nudies had sold their place in Munroe Road Swanson. With the development around Western heights they would have got a pretty penny for it. The sandflys and mossies there must have been a pain in the ass literally.
Thought most people ok with nudists doing their own thing in private. Done a few late night skinny dips when I was a young fella although pissed as. :)

1273004 2012-05-01 07:53:00 Sun seekers tend to end up with pretty leathery skin all over, so maybe the biting insects don't get far on these folk.

I can imagine that it comes with dropping your insecurities, which may feel very good for those that can achieve it.
We are too often surrounded by 'a-holes' who are putting on false bravaro and b-sht 24/7, so perhaps to be bare helps eliminate the a-holes and fakers (despite being literally surrounded by bare a-holes in the process) coz they're hiding nothing. Those that can't bear to be themselves don't go there to be bare.

From the limited images I've seen online, the guys in these groups are often quite pathetically hung, and the ladies are typically 'beamy' (ie very wide hips) from a) adulthood and b) childbirth, so I'd assume that these folks are largely a) secure and b) humble.

Not a bad bunch to associate with probably... as long as they wipe the seat when they get up. Every seat. Every time.

I wear sod all at home myself when I can get away with it (during summer).

<sorry, too much info probably>

1273005 2012-05-03 05:20:00 I am very surprised that no one has spoken out against nudism, saying that it is disgusting and very rude. I wonder why not? I was certainly brought up that way. The only people that were allowed to see you naked was your immediate family and that was only when you were undressing to have a bath.

Have attitudes changed? It seems that way as nobody has said that they consider nudity unnatural.

I concur with you, Paul. I too, am happy to go around home in the buff, but as you say, only in the summer. I'm not into brass monkeys.

Any more opinions or confessions out there?

1273006 2012-05-03 05:39:00 I'm not sure it's an issue any more.

Like you guys, if it's warm, I'll wear nothing - or next to nothing - although not deliberately so. What I mean is that if I'm naked (e.g. getting into/out of bed, into/out of the shower etc), and there is no immediate reason to get dressed, why bother? But I wouldn't answer the door in the altogether or mow the lawns

Outdoors? I'm not into nudism at all, but if it's a deserted beach or almost so, I've always enjoyed skinny dipping. Mixed saunas? You just get used to all sorts of shapes and sizes, and it's the least erotic of all.

I suspect most of the nay sayers need to grow up past the schoolboy or schoolgirl sniggering.

Exhibitionists? Nobody needs them.

So there.

Unnatural? Never seen anyone born dressed.
