1273075 2012-05-01 08:57:00 Well, I got up from sofa to read it, (with glasses on) because I was looking for it. But you are correct, in taking that it meant what it said on the face of it, with no mention of it being for 12 months only. If I was interested in that particular deal I would have taken it at face value. However, I know better, and always read the small print on the website of any offer that I am interested in.

My findings: Always look for the small print, whether it be on TV or on Website.
Do your homework and find out which is the better deal all round.

The particular beef I've got with them is it "says", and reinforces it with BIG writing that you CAN read easily across the room, that you get a free wireless modem and the first two months free. However, that only applies if you're a brand new customer - existing customers wanting to to the $75 deal aren't entitled to them. I reckon that is false advertising - they should at least state that.

Anyway, I'm doing my stint in the Citizens Advice Bureau this morning - I'll be going thru' all the literature we've got on the Advertising Standards Authority and making a few phone calls.

What do other people think? Is it a "fair" ad?

1273078 2012-05-01 22:17:00 Regarding the size of the writing, thats actually quite large compared to some others.

All they have to do is have it on the screen.

Telecom are actually worse for those ads, I seen a few that they have the terms and conditions on the screen , there's a lot of writing and it so small theres no way you could actually read it in the time its on the screen without freezing the ad and being up close. But its there, so thats the excuse they use if anyone disputes anything, as in saying it was not advertised.

They must have changed the deal recently, because as an existing customer, I took up this offer about two months ago, and my son (also an existing customer) changed to the new deal last month. They would only give us one month free, not two (one of the free months was presumably soaked up by not requiring us to pay the contract change fee), but the rest of the offer stands. My TC bill this month was for the wiring maintenance charge only. I will decide what to do once the 12 months are up.
