1297055 2012-08-26 02:15:00 I have got an USB cable power which i normally use to charge but like i said it was connected to it from last night and this morning can not start .

I mean, when it's plugged in to the computer can the power from the USB cable start it up. Basically I'm trying to work out if you have a dead/dying battery or hardware problem which could cause the ipod to not charge/not be able to use the charge from the battery.

If it shows up there It means windows (assuming your on windows) or what ever the OS is, can see it as a hardware device. If it can bee "seen" it means its getting power and is most likely operational to some extent. If it can't be seen at all given the circumstances I'd say there is something amiss with the charging circuits.

I currently have an iPhone (16GB 3G) on my desk awaiting repair. The mobo was put into a replacement body, ever since then it won't work without external power and won't boot past apple logo (it will just loose power after ~ 10s into apple logo) These devices can be fickle and any small problem can send them into a tail spin. Sometimes you are lucky and can revive them with relative ease, other times its easier to write them off. Being a 4G iTouch, that's probably not a good idea and it's worth messing around untill it goes.
