2012-08-31 02:52:00 | i may reply back later with a bit more info ... but online there are two different key changers utility provided by Microsoft. From my own exp .. one works for my CD key and the other does not. Try and have a hunt ... Might be a catch thou - can you get into Windows and run software or does it prevent you doing that? | Nomad (952) | |

2012-08-31 03:09:00 | I think you need a CD key that is specific to the Home edition. You could reinstall and if you have a CD key try one of the key changing utilities ... that might work.

2012-08-31 03:54:00 | Hi guys, I have to enter a key. Tried one that I have working fine on other computers...didn't work!! sniff sniff, piracy??. The forum cant help you , against the rules. You need a separate install key for each PC (in general) If the key you tried is actually on other activated PC's, then MS can block it . Is that whats happened ?

2012-08-31 05:03:00 | This MS utility worked for me. There is one advised on here floating around but that utility didn't work for me. Rather than me giving a link for it, google this, it was the first on the list for me. KeyUpdateTool_enu oh ok, would that mean I would loose all my stuff? Don't want to do that really... So I need one that is Win xp home edition? It's only been 30 days .. and hey some computer repair places ask that you back up your stuff. Yes, I heard that different edition of WinXP require diff CD keys. Hey Nomad, thanks for the reply...I've tried sooo many keys. Where did you get so many keys from? The other is Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder that allows you obtain the CD key on a computer now if you lost the CD case for eg. It also allows you to change it but for mine, I think it was the one that didn't work. Always worth a try.

2012-08-31 05:21:00 | FYI: I don't know but if the key is not legit, if you bought it knowingly it was legit or dodgy shop whatever or off your mate. One way is that when you install service pack updates, more CD-keys are added to the list that they think are not legit. | Nomad (952) | |
