2012-08-29 05:34:00 | Never rains but it pours Further to my issues with Chrome being snuck onto my computer and screwing up my settings - I now find that if I save a .pdf document to a client file and then try and attach it to an email (or just open it) the file is not visible in the client file. It is visible if I go to it via Adobe Reader but that doesn't do too much for my audit trail should it be called on!! Will someone please advise me on this frustrating issue?

2012-08-29 05:48:00 | Can you try something -- Save the PDF file to a USB drive - is it visible there ? If it is, theres a possibility there is some sort of corruption in your user profile. :2cents: Edited; Asa trial as well, have a read of THIS (wp.computertipsandreviews.com) - if it works, its not a fix, more of a workaround till the real problem can be repaired.

2012-08-29 21:34:00 | Yes I can save them to a stick. (and see them) | theother1 (3573) | |
2012-08-29 22:44:00 | Have a read of This Article (answers.microsoft.com) Including all the replies. (2 Pages) While its for W7, the same will apply to Vista, very similar symptoms you mention - hence why I asked before if they were OK on a USB drive. What you can also try is running the system checker through it. Click Start, type in CMD, right click the prompt when it shows, run as administrator, type in sfc /scannow Let it run.

2012-08-30 23:09:00 | I have just done a full Scan with Avast and it came back with a bunch of files that couldn't be scanned, see the attached image. | theother1 (3573) | |
2012-08-30 23:17:00 | Then what? I did that and then it went back to the C:windows\system32> like it was waiting for me to do something | theother1 (3573) | |
2012-08-31 04:55:00 | Had a read of that wainui, my files are ones I create, but yes other than that it does sound similar. I find that if I open the file via Adobe reader I can drag and drop it into the client file. I also get amessage which indicates that a similarly named file is in the client file as well (although still not visible). What do you think about the files that Avast turned up?

2012-08-31 05:09:00 | Those files that Avast cant scan look like its own files, within Avast. Looked some of them up and they say they are part of Avast. - Ignore them. The scannow, did you put a space between the c & / you shouldn't be getting all the options regarding switches. it normally does that when theres been a typo and it doesn't know what to do. It should say Beginning system Scan. This process will take some time. Then you see it scanning and slowly ticking over in %

2012-09-01 05:30:00 | Oh! that space makes all the difference. Thanks | theother1 (3573) | |
2012-09-01 06:16:00 | "Windows Resource Protection did not detect any integrity violations." go figure. I have downloaded the update for Adobe reader maybe that will help. The other thing I have found is that Avast7 keeps telling me, each time I restart, that I need to finish the installation. maybe that has something to do with the problem???
