| 1273762 | 2012-05-05 10:46:00 | Hi everyone, Our firm has decided to implement a visitor registration kiosk. If anyone has had experience implementing a Visitor Rego kiosk please give feedback on experience, good comments with possible recommendations. Thanks in advance! |

| 1273765 | 2012-05-05 22:00:00 | The client I work for currently has self-registration kiosks - touch-screen only (PC interface, not tablet), which seems to baffle more than a few visitors. My recommendation would be to either go with a touch-screen PLUS physical keyboard if you're going down the PC path, or use a tablet (like an iPad) - people seem more familiar with the tablet size and functionality. Touch-screen on a 22 inch screen is still a bit weird for some people (and the on-screen keyboard for PC isn't implemented as well as on-screen keyboards for tablets). If you go with the tablet solution, build some software that will allow the details to be filled out using the Bump app (Android and iOS), just pulling info out of the 'bump' that is relevant to the visit |

We also found many wished to implement in the same way you want to. Chill and johcar are right, some people are a bit baffled by a touch screen PC at first BUT it will work great if the software is great. Make it simple and straightforward with as little data entry as possible. Try and keep it to big buttons. A Physical keyboard is useful especially if you go the tablet route (or if the touchscreen technology uses a capacitive digitizer) since users with gloves or the like won't be able to use it. It also gives people choice. Then again, we might be digging too deep here, visitor kiosk might not even have a touch screen. |

A visitors sticker is printed out with their details and includes a barcode. This barcode is then scanned when checking out. The visitor sticker also clearly identifies that person as an official visitor. It is run off a standard PC with mouse/keyboard with a 15" LCD monitor. This also allows quick swap-outs in the event of hardware failure. |
