1273228 2012-05-02 06:53:00 Hi has anyone on XT traveled to the US and purchased a US Prepay Sim card recently? There is a lot of info on the web but most is dated and I like the idea of a fellow Kiwis' experience. Just need to be contactable, mainly txt with some data. I know there is plenty of wifi but its handy to have some, and from what I can see on T-mobile website not that expensive.

thanks

1273229 2012-05-02 08:02:00 T-Mo is the cheapest but what sort of fone do you have., T-Mo uses AWS that sends 3G data on the 1700 band and receives it on the 2100 band. They do have edge though which is not too bad if your not requiring high speed data.

A&T uses 850 and 1900 3G bands so if your in a 850 area should should be fine. if your in a 1900 area you will only get edge. Check and see if your XT fone does 850/1900/2100. If it does AT&T will be OK bit a bit more expensive..
