45914 2002-04-27 12:50:00 Currently using K2-6 450mhz, tried overclocking it to 500, got frequent blue screens (BSOD's), clocked it to 550, BSOD's even more common, underclocked to 400 which am still using because BSOD's now very rare, even less of them than at originally rated 450. Interesting? Guest (0)
45915 2002-04-27 21:00:00 Yes, underclocking makes much more sense than overclocking, it gives more stability particularly when you have motherboard/cpu and hardware combinations that are not ideal.

I used to have a SIS m/b and Cyrix mmx cpu that would only run properly without BSODs when underclocked.

Quite honestly I find the obsession with overclocking difficult to understand.
In the old days when a 386 and parts cost a fortune, I had all sorts of DOS speedup utilities, it made a more sense then to squeeze a bit more out of a system.

45916 2002-04-28 02:12:00 getting it to POST at 550 is pretty good at stock voltages. thou for it to BSOD at stock speed i suspect you have software probs or incorrect hardware settings.

i've had 3 different k6-2's and none of them BSOD at stock speed.
