45905 2002-04-27 10:21:00 I wish to upgrade my system, and I am confused about the latest whiz band descriptions like RAID sockets (what do they do?) and other like names. Can anybody out there tell me.

45906 2002-04-27 10:50:00 Raid is a technology using multiple Hard Discs to increase access speed, and in higher numbers of discs, reduce the chance of lost data through HD crashes. Best have a look around a site like:

http://www.tomshardware.com/

to help you out, there are lots of comparative reviews and features are explained thoroughly.

45907 2002-04-28 01:40:00 Thanks Rod for the address for motherboards reviews.
I think that I now know what I will get, but, I hadn't realised that there were so many combinations to try.
