45865 2002-04-27 03:21:00 How do you create more email addresses with in an existing Xtra email account. It says that you have available addresses, but how do you do it. Guest (0)
45866 2002-04-27 03:46:00 Hi. I did this recently. Sent an e-mail to their help desk and said I wanted another address and what it was. They allow you four 'aliases' I think it is as one address is already your log in one. Took a few days via this way so I guess if you ring their help desk they can do it for you there and then. Hope this helps

45867 2002-04-27 08:12:00 Iris is correct - you can have 4 additional 'aliases', which are alternative names you can use for your existing account - this means that you could set up different 'profiles' in your email program, so that if you wanted to be bob@xtra.co.nz instead of barry@xtra.co.nz, all you would do is open up the email program using the different account. Bear in mind that they are not seperate email accounts. To have an entirely seperate email account with it's own name you'd need to set up a new one, which is chargeable.

Remember that email addressed to any of your aliases will still go into the same inbox.

As Iris said, best method is to call Xtra's helpdesk (2:30 - 3:30 pm is often a good time) and get them to set it up for you.

45868 2002-04-27 11:13:00 Greg is right that they all go to the same 'inbox' however you can set up 'message rules' so that they can go to different folders.

I have done this with my 2 girls email addresses. I have created new folders and created message rules so when the 'To' line contains 'name' move to 'name' folder.

To do this go to......
Tools|Message Rules|Mail, then click on New. Select Where the to line contains people (then click on blue link that appears in box Rule Description box and type in recipients name, then check Move to specified folder, then click on blue link and add folder name. Then ok.

End result is that you have different aliases that go to same Inbox but they can be sorted into separate folders.
