| 45828 | 2002-04-27 00:21:00 | Recently Norton Antivirus 2000 detected the virus 'JS.Exception.Exploit' on my families computer. I put the virus into Quarantine. I am unable to repair it and I want to know what I should do? Can you please give me some easy to follow instructions of how and what I should do. Thanks. |

| 45829 | 2002-04-27 01:01:00 | Hi Craig You don't have to do anything as the virus cannot cause you any problems in quarantine. If you really want to, you can go into your virus control panel and delete it. Double click on 'quarantine contents' and that should lead you in. Sorry but its so long since I had a virus quarantined I'm not sure exactly how I deleted it but you certainly can get rid of them from the quarantine folder. I do recall that finding out how to delete was not exactly intuitive! Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 45831 | 2002-04-27 05:47:00 | Have you had a look on Symantec's website for information on this? This page gives info on it: securityresponse.symantec.com Sounds like you are lucky - it is an easy one to get rid of. Symantec says to just delete it. |

Mcafee used to stress that the ordinary delete command should not be used to remove such files but to use instead the special delete function in their programme. | 45833 | 2002-04-27 22:10:00 | The virus you have is not a threat, it is a virus used to attack security holes in earlier versions of IE if i remember correctly so if you have IE6 you shouldn't have a problem. THe virus will only try and activate it self at the time you are at the site, so if your virus. scaner picked it up at a later date then the virus had already done it 's job, it's job was probably to get your email address so expect some spam. This virus also originates from the underbelly of the internet, so steer away from porn and warez sites and you will be fine. |

| 45835 | 2002-04-28 02:57:00 | Hi Robin That's exactly what I was talking about. NAV does have a quarantine delete function but its not intuitive to find, especially if your quarantine is empty. Mind you, I can't see how any form of deletion could be dangerous apart from the file ending up in your recycle bin where it could accidentally be restored or activated. Sounds like Mcafee sales talk to me and I gave up on their AV years ago. Cheers Billy 8-{) |
