46003 2002-04-28 02:54:00 Why do people insist on leaving specific messages like: message for joe bloggs re: internet banking etc.?

Just reply to one of their messages, if they were interested in a reply they will be emailed about it!

46004 2002-04-28 03:08:00 You only get emailed with a reply if you have ticked the email notification box:Yes.
Not everyone scrolls down all the messages, so if you put Re: Whoever, they can see it quickly and easily.
What does it matter anyway, is everyone 'too busy' to smell the roses anymore?
Life's too short too complain about trivialities! be thankful there is a site like this, regardless of a few mistakes here and there.

46005 2002-04-28 03:27:00 You are correct that people receive an email notification when they receive replies to messages that they post AS LONG AS they have ticked that option when they posted their message.

An exception to that rule, however, depends on which post the responder actually replies to.

For instance Joe posts a message.

Tom replies to that message and Joe gets an email notification.

Now Sam clicks on Joe's message 'reply to' and replies to Joe's message also. Again Joe gets a notification BUT TOM DOES NOT because it wasn't his 'reply to' button that was selected.

Along comes Jack, clicks on Tom's 'reply to' and both Joe and Tom get notifications but Sam does not!

Therefore, if someone wishes to receive a reply from one person in particular then they need to be careful to click on that person's 'reply to' button - and hope that they have enabled the option to receive notifications!

46006 2002-04-28 04:18:00 Well put, Susan.

Not everyone has reply ticked, and then people don't give details to moderators about their address so they can get prizes. Not that I am bitter or anything.
