| 46279 | 2002-04-29 07:02:00 | Afternoon Karl, First things first, head over to 'windowsupdate.microsoft.com' and apply all needed patches/upgrades etc. reguarding this Shutdown problem, Is Shut-down hanging on 'saving your settings' message? Do you get that far ? If this is the case have a look at 'support.microsoft.com Are you getting an error during shutdown ? By switch is this like a Light switch for off and on ? Jess |

| 46280 | 2002-04-29 08:01:00 | You've got a soft power switch which probably means you'll have to hold the button down for at least 4-5 seconds and it'll just turn itself off. As for XP not shutting down is usually a result of it not thinking your computer APM (Advance Power Management) may not work. Anyway you could try going into your display properties by right clicking on your desktop and choosing properties. From there choose the screen saver tab and then the power button then the APM tab and check that APM is enabled. HTH (Was using Win2k to describe the steps as Im not at my XP machine) |
