46179 2002-04-29 00:50:00 That goes for me too!!! I think stuff.co.nz did it once - what a pain. Did someone what to practice their Java skills? Guest (0)
46180 2002-04-29 00:51:00 I AGREE

Sheeeeeesh - no wonder the forum is falling apart - try to get it working consistently before introducing other things, especially advertising!

46181 2002-04-29 01:31:00 Thank goodness I read this posting. Thought it was my mouse, or worse, the whole computer playing up. Not good for the nerves of newcomers to computers. How do you get it to work like that tho`???? amazing things you people can do. Iris Guest (0)
46182 2002-04-29 01:40:00 I must be missing something, or else I have something disabled somewhere which I've forgotten about:) What IPAQ? what mouse? Someone let me in on this one! Guest (0)
46183 2002-04-29 01:55:00 Trust me, Terry, you don't want in on it :)

Its an ad for Compaq IPaq that follows the mouse around on the PressF1 main page. Its bloody annoying.

46184 2002-04-29 03:47:00 Hi Craig (and everyone else).

Just wanted to let you know that we are experiencing a problem with this Compaq IPAQ campaign, which has unfortunately caused it to be much more intrusive than it was ever meant to be.

The campaign should have capped the number of IPAQ ads shown to any one person to twice - and the problem has now been rectified so that it does this.

We do try here at IDG to make the advertising as unobtrusive as we can, which means that if we ever do 'pop-ups' like this we ensure that they only show a limited number of times for each reader, and disappear again within a reasonable time.

But we also do need to provide advertising on the site in order to continue to fund (partially I might add) the ongoing provision of these services.

46185 2002-04-29 05:38:00 Sorry Mark, but I am still getting this iPac thing bouncing all over my screen, like some demented Bonzai Buddy..... I think its a pretty insideous form of advertising, and sorry to see PressFI getting suckered into running it actually - I know you have to pay the bills, but there are limits!!!!
