| 46493 | 2002-04-30 09:17:00 | I came back, thanks to the trouble you took to reply to my post. The add was fun, -for about 10 seconds. If it jumped around randomly it would have been fine but it interfered with the scrolling on my computer so I couldn't read the posts very well. I use no addblockers, but it didnt go away so someone was telling porkies. I appreciate the need for adds and enjoy the site, -visit most days. However this add just got up my nose. Thanks for the prompt action. (no need for reply) | Guest (0) | ||

| 46495 | 2002-04-30 22:45:00 | Hi Don - Thanks for your post. Just to reiterate that no-one was telling 'porkies' - we knew (and were open about) the fact that there was an issue with this ad for those people using cookie blockers and some ad blocking software, and also that there was a period when the frequency capping was not working as it should have. Once that was resolved the majority of people saw the ad only twice before it disappeared from their screens again for good. What we didn't know was that there was an issue with some versions of IE (6.0 for example) which was due to how they work with cookies. This meant that even when the frequency capping kicked in (late morning yesterday), some people were still seeing the ad more than twice. We've learned from this, we've 'fessed up', and we'll know for next time. But no-one was telling 'porkies' about it - quite the opposite, I think we were extremely open about it ... and so do most if not all of the other posters.
