| 46376 | 2002-04-29 11:32:00 | Hi, I've got a couple of weee probs. 1. When I print from a computer on my home network, I get an error appearing twice: The window title is 'Epson Status Mointro 3' and the content is 'Cannot link common resource dll.' The page prints fine though. I know what status monitor 3 is, but why is my network computer trying to access it, and why can't it? I don't care if I can't access the status monitor, I just don't want the errors. Epson Stylus Colour 480. Sygate firewall. Both comps windows XP Pro. 2. One of my PC's has started taking ages to shut down and startup - say 1min 30 intead of the usual 30 sec. (I don't know how much slower than normal, but about twice.) I haven't made any obvious cahnges. I have tried disabling all startup apps, and norton autoprotect to now avail. On start-up, the windows flash screen takes an extra two - three seconds, and once the desktop displays, I have to wait another 15seconds+ than normal. During this time, there is a lot of disk activity, and the floppy drive is accessed for a short period (three seconds). (no disk in drive). On shut down, it just displays the windows is shutting down screen for a little longer. Running windows XP Pro, 128MB RAM, 1200MHz processor. I know these times are not large, but it is a 50% slow down. I have tried defrag, windoctor etc. No solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. G P |
