46654 2002-05-01 10:13:00 I'd just like to publicly express my gratitude to the people behind ZFree for providing me with a free internet service for such a long time.

It took me from an absolute beginner on the internet to the (cough) power-user you see before you now (those of you with web cams).

Now I have to pay for my internet, but at least I know how to use it efficiently and what it can do for me.

They say there's no such thing as a free lunch, but I've had my fill, and then some.

So thanks again, ZFree.

It's been great.

46656 2002-05-01 12:06:00 It has been good, hasn't it. I switched back to Clear... they obviously haven't taken on ZFree's hardware, even though they took many of their customers... I've been getting busy signals most of today :)

46658 2002-05-01 23:32:00 Yep. Gotta agree with that. ZFree was great. When it first started, I thought it would be slow & full of ads.

To my surprise, it was very good. Helped a lot of us get started on the 'net.

The recommended replacement, ClearNet, is $14.95 per month for 150 hours, or $29.95 per month unlimited.

But I went with Slingshot (i4free's replacement).
$14.95 per month unlimited & I connect first time every time.

46659 2002-05-02 04:56:00 Guys, just dont try Watchdog, nothing but problems. No answer, server not assigning IP addresses, the list goes on. We get DSL this week!

46661 2002-05-02 05:46:00 Re ClearNet.

If you are prepared to pay one year in advance, the cost is $249.50pa for unlimited access. (equates to $20.80 per month if you ignore interest lost on outlay)

I paid in August last year, I guess it is still available.

Cheers.

46662 2002-05-02 06:39:00 Well, we signed up with them at least 2 years ago, when i was turning 13....but now as we now don't try going to certain sites ;) and are heavy users of the net we are dumping watchdog and going for Xtra DSL JetStart

46663 2002-05-02 08:50:00 JM, how do E3 compare with zFree? Same speed/slower/faster? Busy signals?

What plan are you on?
