46689 2002-05-02 03:53:00 Unless you have a real preference for the Asus GeForce 3 TI 200 I would go with a Leadtek for around $50 less.......I think from memory www.hotchips.co.nz has them on special for around $380........

Also keep in mind the GF4 TI 4200 is due for release shortly and should retail for between $500~$600 and outperforms any of the GF3's by a substantial margin.....

so if you don't mind waiting that would be a good way to go.............

as for a CD-Rom......it is far cheaper to wear out a CD-Rom for day to day use than a CD Writer..........

46690 2002-05-02 04:48:00 Athlon 1700XP is cheaper and faster than the pentium, and the Soltek motherboards that go alongside an athlon absoloutly rock. Our 1600XP with a Soltek M/B ran for about 7 days without reboot on 98SE....just need a little application from the downloads section on this site that frees up ram when you run out. Judging from all the comments on this site, XP is till too buggy for games and the likes at this point of time. Brand new GeForce 3 expect to pay 449+GST or a little bit more.

46691 2002-05-03 12:06:00 from personal experience do not get any Mitsumi and Diamond Data products. They are bad!! Both of these products broke down and Quay Computers in Wellington refused to do anything. They said he receipt was their's but the hardware were not their's!

Mitsumi had failed in 3 months and the Diamond Data 6months. Our 4X Creative Goldstar performs better than them.
