| 46673 | 2002-05-01 10:31:00 | I have a hp 8205i cd writer and have been using it for 12 months and i have had to re install windows 98se and now i can only erase cd's. when i go to write one i get 'hardware error' thats all??? can anyone help?? only have a 4gig hard drive and it is fat 16 as it has errors on it and won't go fat 32 Thanks Neil |

| 46674 | 2002-05-01 11:37:00 | how do you mean 'won't go fat32'? criky i havn't ever done a drive with fat 16. someone correct me if i'm wrong but if you use fat16 you are limited to 512mb which would explain why you are getting hardware error as you are running out of harddrive space. reformat and when you go to format press y to enable large disk support when it asks. also if the disks got errors then its proberly time to get new drive. |

| 46675 | 2002-05-02 08:09:00 | Hey thanks, when i re installed win 98se it said i had errors on the hd so it would allow me to convert from fat 16 to fat 32. so it looks like time for a new hd then. thanks again Neil |
