46773 2002-05-02 06:13:00 I have a SCSI controller, my vvideo card and an analogue video capture card all sharing IRQ 7.

I have disabled com 1&2 and LPT1 but cant get any of the devices to use any of the unused irqs.

My scsi hard drives work like a dog (a very slow 2 legged dog) and the video capture card manufacturers suggest a separate IRQ for their board.

Does the IRQ sharing matter and if so how do I convince it to change- a real step by step guide would be good.

THe BIOS is AMIBIOS

Thanks

46774 2002-05-02 08:51:00 If you really must insist on doing this then go to Device Manager, look in the 'Computer' container, select the Properties of 'ACPI PC' by double clicking it. Click the Driver Tab, press the 'Update Driver' button. Install the 'Standard PC' driver. Reboot and then Windows will redetect all your devices.

Your PC will no longer be able to power itself off when you shutdown Windows, and you may notice other features missing too. These are things that are dependent on ACPI.

You will very likely see no improvement in performance. Are you using the latest motherboard drivers, and SCSI drivers? IRQ sharing is normal and has no real negative impact on performance.
