46704 2002-05-01 19:42:00 Does anybody use CDROM read-write back up?

I use it (one reason) to back up my web site the original is on the hard
drive I edit, then I upload the file to the web site, the boss uses it to
back up customer information back up files

by runing the follow lines from a batch file
xcopy /d E:\web\*.html s:\myWeb\*.html
xcopy /d E:\web\misc\*.* s:\myWeb\misc\*.*
xcopy /d E:\web\images\*.* s:\myWeb\images\*.*

it copies just the files with the newer dates on them from the hard drive to
CDROM

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But the real point I am tring to make is and was brought to the attention of
my boss yesterday,
a problem I have had, at some point the CDROM will screw up and bring you
whole computer to a freeze up each time you put it in the CDROM drive.
The solution to the problem might be:
Start with two CDROM (read-write, by the way of course) label one
something like CDROM 'a' and CDROM 'b' maybe use different makes maybe one
cheap one and one more expensive one.
back up both CDROMs at the same time each time you back up.
When you get to a point one of the two CDROM lock ups your computer, throw
that one in the rubbish, use the other good 'twin' to back up two new CDROM
'a' and 'b' put that 'twin' in your filling system as a back up achieve.
46705 2002-05-02 04:15:00 Well, You could try Nero, and see what you think, simply add the folder that has your files into it, burn it, then each time you wanna backup that folder, put in the CD in and load nero, the rest is done for you!
I've NEVER had Nero crash on me BTW, even though ALL other CD burning progs have, NTI Cd-Maker, Adaptec CD Burner etc.
Nero works, and it works well!
hope that helps
