46985 2002-05-03 22:42:00 Most of those entries are referencing a nasty piece of Spyware (from brilliant digital) that comes with Kazaa. You are best to delete the lot as this particular piece of Spyware/Scumware is about to turn your PC into a server for the advertising companies in the next 4 weeks as it contains a trojan to do that as well as Spy on You.

Once you delete them Kazaa will not work anymore but you can either download KazaaLite (which has had the Spyware removed for you and functions perfectly without it) or find another file downloader like say Xolox (do a search) which is completely Spyware free.

The other Spyware/Scumware mentioned should be deleted as well (Cydoor). It probably came with the Alexa program mentioned in the list which means that Alexa probably will not work after removing its Spyware/Scumware either.

46986 2002-05-04 03:10:00 I am very flattered by your assumption that I'm an expert on AdAware but much as I hate to admit it I'm not :-(

However, from what I have read elsewhere AdAware is a very good program and can generally be relied on to do its job. I would therefore allow it to delete what it recommends if it were me.

Like John says though, you may find the 'infected' software will no longer work afterwards, but personally I would rather that than have spyware on my machine.

Alexa is actually installed by Microsoft, believe it or not, but removing it won't cause problems.
