Gamers Depot <www.gamersdepot.com> has published a four card GeForce 4 MX Comparison <http: that as well as reviewing the cards also includes comments by Tim Sweeney of Epic Games on what he has to say about the MX chip and why it could be a huge marketing blunder by nVidia. Here is a clip from the intro: Like most companies, NVIDIA tries their best to establish a complete product offering that appeals to market segments of all price ranges for its respective family of GPUs. The most recent example of this is the ?GeForce 4? chips that top out at $400.00 for a card, and go as low as about 100 dollars on the street. In this review we?re taking a closer look at their budget chip, the GeForce 4 MX, to test its performance and hopefully uncover some of the surrounding controversy over its naming. We have four GeForce 4 MX 440 ? based card from eVGA, PNY, VisionTek and Leadtek, all of which have varying designs and packaging/bundling. If you're looking to buy a new AMD Thoroughbred processor when it comes out and are worried whether or not it will work in you're motherboard, worry no more, for it looks as if the new CPUs should work in all motherboards supporting the current AthlonXP Palomino processors. This is so because the 0.13micron Athlon XP will have almost no architectural differences from its predecessor, as well, the Vcore of Athlon Thoroughbred is so close to that of Athlon XP, that no problems should arise on any motherboard, as the majority of Socket A boards provide 1.5V, not to mention 1.6V. It appears there my not be a Windows XP SE after all. This is a snippet of an article over at Win Informant on the Microsoft Windows roadmap. Read on: In yesterday's WinInfo Daily UPDATE article titled 'Next-Gen Windows Rumors Heat Up,' I discussed a report from 'Microsoft Windows XP--The Official Magazine' that described Windows XP Service Pack (SP1) and a purported follow-up release called XP Second Edition (SE). This publication is the second to publish information about an XP SE release since I speculated that such a product was possible back in January. However, Microsoft says XP SE isn't on the schedule. 'There are no plans for Windows XP Second Edition,' a Microsoft representative told me yesterday. Microsoft will release XP SP1 this fall, and then begin the beta program for the next Windows version (code-named Longhorn). But Longhorn isn't set to ship until sometime in 2004, leaving an empty release slot in late 2003. The fact that Microsoft has shipped a new consumer Windows product every year since 1995 has led to speculation about XP SE. You can read more here <www.wininformant.com Here's an interesting little snippet from the US on a rather pervy high school vice principal: Angry parents demanded the resignation of a California high school vice principal Tuesday because she lifted the skirts of teenage girls at a dance in front of men and male classmates to make sure they were wearing 'appropriate' underwear. Parents at Rancho Bernardo High School in suburban San Diego say the vice principal, Rita Wilson, made the girls prove that they were not wearing thong underwear before they were allowed into the dance on Friday.
