2002-05-05 00:16:00 | Can't resist replying to this one Susan. If you are into 1920s-1930s music, then joy. A 3 minute playing time .ra or mp3 from old 78rpms is usually less than 500KB, mono of course :):) A 45 minute 'virtual radio station program on demand' is only about 6MB, thats Real Audio at 22Kbps. Streaming audio from some of these 'old timers' comes over well most of the time with little buffering. It sounds even more realistic when re-broadcast at low power and received on my 1932 Echo TRF:) Oh well I feel sorry for those who dont know who Paul Whiteman was, or Irving Mills and His Hotsy-Totsy Gang, or Bix Beiderbecke. Pop music of that day had real talent in it.... sigh.

2002-05-05 01:28:00 | Thank you VERY much for all the replies everybody, they're all much appreciated. Obviously I was doing something wrong if I couldn't download 8,083,899 bytes within 10-15 minutes (that is only 8mb isn't it?) so I've got some learning to do I guess. Did anyone say it was addictive? ;-P Uh-oh....

2002-05-05 01:41:00 | Hang on a minute Susan, you're not going to download at faster than about 1MB in 3 minutes with an average 56K modem connection. 8MB WILL take about 25-30 minutes or longer if the net is busy. Cheers.

2002-05-05 07:29:00 | Hi Susan, What a lot of helpful advice here. I've been a mp3 addict since the days of Napster. Used dialup for a start, and now on Ihug Ultra. After Napster died, I've tried many others. Now my preference is Kazaa, but be sure to get the Kazaalite as suggested, which avoids spyware. On this, one can choose sources with better bandwidth. The files may D/L from multiple sources, and will resume later if interrupted. Here is where you find it: http://www.kazaalite.com/

2002-05-05 10:03:00 | cannot believe u guys ... at the rationale u guys are, i mind as well download winXP via Kazar (or whatever it is ..) and turn this forum into a warez site and start posting links to dowanload sotrage sites and cd-keys. one child pirating games is not more guity than a college student running photoshop than one of you pirating mp3's.
