47313 2002-05-06 00:29:00 Hi,

just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for a free antivirus prog... have got the trial of Symantec 2002 and while it's doing the job, I'm not keen to have to pay for only a year-long subscription... Is there something reliable I can look at which will do the same job, but do it for free??

Thanks in advance.

47315 2002-05-06 13:31:00 Hi Lo,

I agree whole heartedly with wuppo. Have been running Norton for a couple of years and decided to try AVG when my next subscription was due. AVG is easier to use AND free.

Go for it.

Cheers.

47316 2002-05-06 21:48:00 Good luck when you try to get rid of Nortons!!! I used to be a Norton A-virus user but found that it was NOT the best around and is over priced. But eeeeee! When I tried to remove it so that my new A-V programs would work! Ouch! Norton's can be real nasty, leaving bits and pieces all over, which prevent other A-V programs from installing. Yes - AVG is good - I use it along with Command EZ Anti Virus (less than half price of Norton's and more efficient). Guest (0)
47317 2002-05-06 22:28:00 Thanks for all your advice, guys! Now have AVG 6.0 on 3 pc's... Can't believe how easy the updates are as well?? Compared with Norton, I mean 5 mb to 800kb?? Anyway... great advice!

Cheers,

Lo.
