| 47294 | 2002-05-05 19:24:00 | About once every few weeks, those rolling green hills on my XP desktop (and all the desktop icons) disappear. I am left with a blank screen in a sandy buff colour, with (if I'm lucky) only the taskbar at the bottom. Sometimes, even the taskbar disappears. I bring up an already running application, either by clicking the button on the bar or (if the bar's not there) pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete to bring up the Task Manager. When I have an application displayed on the screen, the taskbar and start button sometimes (but not always) reappear, allowing me to start new applications. Reboot, naturally, cures everything, but I don't like having to do it. XP problem? Dodgy memory? Virus? (Norton AV 2002 says the system's clean) What? Anyone else had this problem? |
