| 47346 | 2002-05-06 03:31:00 | Hi, My name is Bob Ephraim. I had a HELP message from my niece a few days ago. She uses Windows 2000 Prof., which I am unfamiliar with. When booting her computer and the desktop appears, the red light on her computer is flat out, obviously looking for something. After a minute or so it restarts the O.S. again and again and again!! I restarted in Safe Mode. That worked fine. I suspected that Norton Anti Virus could be the culprit. I used 'Add/Remove Software' and hey presto, that put everything back to normal. But when I opened 'Add/Remove' again to try to remove Norton Utilities, to my horror the window of 'Add/Remove' did not not show any progs., it was completely blank!! Rebooting did not help. Is there any way of rectifying this? Looking forward to your expert remedy. Bob Ephraim |

Normally, the original file is 290kb in size. Suggestion: (if the file is smaller)Grab a copy of appwiz.cpl from another [2000] machine and overwrite the existing one. Or use Nortons Windoctor to fix invalid entries. Talk about a mouth full from Microsoft!! |
