| 47335 | 2002-05-06 02:35:00 | My computer (AMD K-6, 500Mhz running Win98) used to shutdown automatically when I pressed shutdown. Recently I installed WinXP to try it out. Found my resources (64Mb RAM) insufficient to run XP so I uninstalled it. I don't know whether these two events are related or not. But since coming back to win98 I have had to see the 'It is now safe to shutdown your computer' screen and have to manually switch it off. I have looked in the BIOS but have not found anything that may be controlling this. Can you help me? |

On the screen saver tab, hit power and enable advanged power management, and set up the power options to whatever you want, then when you shut down, it will turn itself off... Craig. |

| 47337 | 2002-05-06 05:15:00 | Hi HK, About a year ago my when I shut down my HPPavilion, Windows M.E the screen turned black with the cursor blinking in the top left corner of the screen. I found this solution in the Help guide in the computer about updating the BOIS to the latest version. Seeing as my computer was only about six months older I thought what a load of bull!!!. But touchwood it seems to be working computer shuts down, as it should. Hope this helps a bit. Dave (merlin) |
