| 1274231 | 2012-05-08 06:08:00 | New ISP, the provided modem works . The old modem does not . I resetted the modem using a paperclip and also thru setup by typing 192 . 168 . 1 . 1 by using a factory reset . The DSL links just blinks all the time on and off . . . The Internet light is always off . It never goes solid red . Or is this just a pure coincidence? It was working this morning until the connection from the old ISP was pulled . Cheers . |

Some older modems wont auto detect the ISP settings and you still have to manually enter the user name and password. The DSL links just blinks all the time on and off Thats because its not syncing the user name & password -- the internet usually wont go solid till it does. |

The same settings works with the new modem which is the connection I am on now typing this ....... Edit. I would have thought also if there are no settings in it, it should still give you a solid red light - like the new modem did when I haven't set it up. |

| 1274234 | 2012-05-08 06:23:00 | The modem Telstra gave me (when I joined) didnt have to be configured either. It connected to TC out of the box. But, when I brought this modem (a TP-link), I had to add the VCI/VPI etc, as well as the username / password. otherwise the internet LED wouldnt come on. Once, everything was typed in, it was fine. Did you tick / untick the modulation as well?? Whatever the settings are for the new ISP? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||

Instead, you have to ring them and tell them to override the default custom-generated DSL password with one that'll let you use another device. | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||
| 1274236 | 2012-05-08 06:26:00 | What are the settings for Telstraclear (ADSL)? I put in the VPI 0 and VCI 100 and PPoA, username and password. What's the modulation part? They didn't give me the settings.... I think I chose PPoA and then MC-LUX or something .. I came out of Orcon. It was my own modem - just ADSL. A D-LINK one. |

It does not even need the username and password entered to be able to do this. |

Not always - I have just got back from doing one, and it was as I described, the internet & DLS didn't turn solid green (led) till I got it to sync fully (person gave wrong password so we had to reset). The Person said its has been sitting there for over 3 hours flashing on/off. |
