1299174 2012-09-06 00:50:00 What you can also do is reinstall windows from fresh, see if it still does it. Thats what all the big name brand manufactures do .
Um. Not.
I sure wouldn't do this except as a last resort.
Try and establish if it's hardware or software first.
at least....

1299175 2012-09-06 00:56:00 Hmmm - froze as froze forever

update: scanning with BDIS has uncovered 10 "threats" - so possibly this could be the cause - I'll need to wait to see what these "threats" are

1299176 2012-09-06 01:31:00 Hmmm - BDIS found 10 cookies that it deleted - are these really dangerous?

1299177 2012-09-06 02:16:00 I would use something better than Bitdefender Speedy Gonzales (78)

Wanna bet ???? they do so - theres been several times when people have come to me with name brand computers, and sometimes its a hardware fault - When you log a warranty claim the first thing they ask esp if its random (unless its obvious like a blown part) have you done a factory restore.

Of course I have already done tests to determine that it is hardware and NOT software.

1299179 2012-09-06 03:09:00 Hey NZHawk
- looks like you have got threats , no i dont think cookies are dangerous , as they are not viruses . Here is a link similar to if cookies are dangeours , . yahoo . com/question/index?qid=20080521001306AAKJu1U" target="_blank">answers . yahoo . com . But it looks like that it is what is causing a indiscriminate freezing .

Now did you scan with malwarebytes , im happy that you're scanning with spyware terminator , see if it detects nasties , if it is not there , than BDIS has probably deleted them . Though one thing comes to my mind is like speedy thinks use something better than bitdefender , i woould agree with him .

Also when you think / view there is no malware issues , run cc cleaner , to clean and clear all leftover files , are sometime nasties comes from there .

I think after all these if still you are vewing peformance issue , check your browser for installed toolbars and extensions , see which one you think should be remove if there is any . I would also do a hard -driver Error check . Thats all for now . See if that helps .

Indeed. Looked at a laptop purchased from Noel Lemons earlier this year. Ran HD Sentinel bootable CD and it found a very sick hard drive. They took it back to Lemons who did a factory restore and gave it back to them. No surprise it fell over again a day later. Guy from Lemons rings me and asked "doesn't defrag pick up hard drive errors?"
