| 1298550 | 2012-09-04 21:50:00 | Got the same thing 2 days ago in my work email. No idea how it got into the inbox in the first place, as I've never use my work email for any subscriptions. Obviously a fake, there's another one based on "Windows Live" circling around past week, my clients were talking about it pretty vividly |

| 1298553 | 2012-09-05 22:43:00 | Of course anyone who's actually installed and activated windows themselves would immediately know this was BS even if they were otherwise foolish enough to believe it. These things target the gullible and not-very computer literate. What really bugs me is when scam E-mails turn up and don't appear to have my actual E-mail address anywhere, why do they get delivered when the "to" field has something only vaguely similar to my E-mail in it? It would be nice if we could just recommend never clicking any E-mail links but unfortunately some companies do use E-mail links to verify accounts. |

| 1298554 | 2012-09-05 23:14:00 | Just had one of those Indian guys ring up offering to sort my PC out. If I could have understood him better I would have spun him along for as long as I could. He couldn't understand that nothing was happening when I was pressing the Windows + R key. I explained to him it might have something to do with the fact I was running Linux.:D |

Let him talk about where to turn things on and such 2. keep him enthusiastic 3. Near the end when his done, tell him that everything is nice and great.. but only if you had a computer to begin with. That clearly put them off HARD. :P |

| 1298556 | 2012-09-08 04:47:00 | What really bugs me is when scam E-mails turn up and don't appear to have my actual E-mail address anywhere, why do they get delivered when the "to" field has something only vaguely similar to my E-mail in it? It will be in there, but you won't see it in a normal email, any more than you will see the load of crap in the copy I posted at the beginning of this thread. The email address (actually Mrs T's address which is an alias on my Xtra account) is always shown and is in the first line of that extract I posted. There is no other way that it could arrive in my inbox. I read that information directly off the ISP's server without downloading the email so I'm guessing that is probably the only way you can see it. There are likely to be a number of programs that can do that, but the only one I know (and use) is Mailwasher. I reckon that program has saved me a lot of grief, because it stops everything and I can delete the crap straight off the server and only download what I want. I blacklist the source of everything I delete at the same time. Incidentally, I always do a repeat check of the server after deleting the crap, it is amazing how many times another email pops up in the minute or so before I download, and some are fresh nasties.
