Two factors...

whichever end of the car protrudes furthest from the wheels will be more likely to ground.

also, the heavier end will sink harder into the dip if it is not taken slowly enough and ground.

Engine ends are typically heavier by far, and will sink into the gutter until the springs counter the downward momentum.

Thanks, Paul. Had not occured to me that the front would be heavier. Makes sense when you think about it. Just shows you that I'm not a mechanic, eh?

Nor my car really........Ron at works car - well. But then his front bit barely rises above the road so hardly surprising. It's this low front fashion with cars now.

1275153 2012-05-14 07:16:00 My Honda Accord US Wagon drags its arse in true Yank Tank fashion on driveways. A lot of overhang at the back. I once had a '56 Chev Wagon which did the same thing. My Ex has a little Toyota Yarris which will negotiate just about anything. mzee (3324)
