| 1274122 | 2012-05-09 01:38:00 | Obviously I don't know the complete setup, but the way I see it, theres 4 problems. 1. Your email scanner on the server didn't work as it should. 2. Nod32 may not be setup correctly/fully as it will scan for any infections as mails come through. 3. Not using a email client that stops exe files from the start, or its not set to disallow exe files. 4. The IDIOT user who opens a exe file attached to an email. Re #3 Outlook blocked a well known exe file I just sent as a test. 3778 Edited: I just renamed a picture to .exe and outlook warned about sending, and blocked it when it came in. I'd suggest you use a better email client or at least check its settings. "No AV is perfect & its a bit unrealistic to expect every variation of malware be detected" that sums it up really. |

| 1274123 | 2012-05-09 01:57:00 | Damn, ran out of time to alter other post. There is another more advanced settings you may want to add in. Open Nod32, then press F5 to bring up the advanced menu - open Web and Email - Email Client Protection - Setup - put ticks in all boxes as shown before. ( this may slow down some emails as it will do more intense scans as they come in) Once again - Its knowing the software ;) |

| 1274124 | 2012-05-09 02:37:00 | re post #4 This is how I always set Nod up. Please note, the pictures are using Smart Security, but the Antivirus section is the same. This is also version 5 Open Nod32 main window - On the left Setup - Computer ( 1st pic) Then Configure- Setup -- Under Objects / Options tick everything, Under cleaning set to strict Hi Wainui the default Nod setup has everything you ask here except the strict scanning, so have upped that to full 377937803781 Most of our users use the webmail to access their email accounts (as was in this case). As this is not a client program Nod wont integrate as fully as an outlook setup. exe's are blocked so i am wondering how this got through, i never saw the file so was just assuming that was the case I will check that out for sure Thanks for the help  |
