1274726 2012-05-12 05:14:00 In my younger days I sent to America and got a Shelby Cobra sticker and put it on the back window of my mini.
From memory it looked something like this. www.mustangsunlimited.com That was the decal for the Shelby Cobra Mustang.

Yeah tuiruru stop showing your ignorance.

1274727 2012-05-12 23:38:00 Wondering if he also designed the car in the movie "Gone in 60 seconds" they drive a Shelby in that? beetle (243)
1274728 2012-05-13 01:43:00 Beets - I know it's an American rite of passage to see that movie at least once - but I never have.

American Graffiti, Yes!

Gone In 60? No.

I have drooled over. at. around and near Cobras - but never owned one -- nor could I afford the insurance for one even.

1274731 2012-05-13 16:12:00 I never liked his association with Iacocca, and I thought Lee would be noted as the Phineas T. Barnum of the automotive world - still do, as a matter of fact. I dislike everything MOPAR (Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, DeSoto) and absolutely EVERYTHING from FORD.

IIRC, Shelby ran the AC-Bristols too - right? I seem to remember them running Chevy V8s in them and absolutely eating every other car in Watkins Glenn, Seneca and The Isle of Wight.

There was a neighbor who had a Bristol Cobra in Huntington Beach and it had a 302/5 liter Chevy small block with a single-speed automatic transmission in it that had won many races in the Unlimited SCCA Class at Riverside and Ontario Speedway events. I loved hearing that engine at 12,000+ RPM on a hard pull in the back straight at Riverside Raceway.

They were formidable vehicles. I still lust for a real Cobra though - even if it has a Ford 289 in it.
