1274139 2012-05-07 20:11:00 If the effects could be back-dated, the idea might have merit. In the case of Beehive occupants, about two generations back might be a good starting point. ;) R2x1 (4628)

1274143 2012-05-07 22:50:00 I say this is one of the few good ideas this government has had...

Beneficiaries are ones who tend to breed like rabbits :banana

Social Development Minister Paula Bennett yesterday said contraception would eventually be fully funded for female beneficiaries and their 16 to 19-year-old daughters.

Why just females, dont guys have some responsibility also? If they want to target just females, send them all a letter with five words on it.... "Keep ya bloody knees together", thats got to be a whole lot cheaper. Providing contraception just means its ok for females to go out and screw around as they have nothing better to do. Surely a better use of time would be gaining a higher education, job training or even job hunting.

Which by and large happens anyway, so why not break the poverty cycle in this manner? If they legitimately want to sit down and think about it and have kids, then cool, whatever, still their choice. However, at least this way, the option of contraception is there and freely readily available. Why not? Better a 50c condom or a 6-monthly jab in the ass than having to pay for another child raised up to simply live off the benefit. It's a fact that many kids who have parents on the benefit also grow up and stay on the benefit themselves, mostly because they're used to the way of life, because they lack any motivation, and their parents lack the motivation to motivate their children.

As far as I'm aware the statistics for generational benefit bludgers are the same across all races / genders too.
