47497 2002-05-06 23:52:00 Does anyone know a way of preventing people from adding you to their address book automatically...........

This latest virus doing the rounds is proving to be a pain.......I am now getting 'abuse emails' from people who have received the klez virus......with the from field showing as my email.......after tracking down the true source of the message it turns out to be someone who I emailed once over 18 months ago but has the option enabled to automatically add people they reply to, to their address book.........this is the third time this has happened to me in the last couple of weeks.

I am 100% positive that my computer does not contain the virus.......and have emailed the people with the virus informing them they may be infected and to download the removal tools and to please remove me from their address books.......

But it would just be easier if there was some way of setting up my emails so people cant automatically add me to their address book......I know it wont totally eliminate the problem........but it might cut down the amount of times this happens

To acomadate any people you want to be actualy contacted by, place your real address in your signiture, or message body for them only.

Adding NOSPAM, or something like that randomly to a email address is a common trick for those who post to newsgroups. it stops robots and thick people only.

47501 2002-05-07 07:39:00 Hi Chris, sounds great but how do you go about changing your return address? Humour me, I'm fairly new to this! I have had to get people to delete my email address from their address book as I am getting Klez emails left right and centre. That stopped that, but being able to stop them coming in the first place would be a great help. Simple language for a simple person please! Guest (0)
