My Cannon BJC-3000 bublejet printer refuses to be recognised by my Windows Me set up after working fine for several weeks. None of the Windows supplied help is any use. Somehow the local LPT1 port is not being recognised (it appears). I have managed (at least twice) to resolve the problem (exactly why remains a mystery!) by loading in the latest drivers from the internet, not for BJC-3000 drivers, but for a BJC-4000 drivers, and by playing around with the printer settings. This includes using ECP for the LPT1 printer port. I have kept a record of most of the settings that were working last time but I have had no success this time. Unfortunately I have no feel for what trigger may be causing the printer to stop working suddenly - it occurs when others in my family are using it. My main suspect (for want of others) is a Sims game which is used a lot and which appears to leak memory during use (I always have to restart PC after this game has been used to ensure a proper shutdown at the end of the evening).
Any thoughts? |
