47989 2002-05-09 12:14:00 Hi
I admit I was wrong!

I bought an extension USB hub and inadvertently removed the HP1200 printer plug without going through the proper procedures - at least so far as HP are concerned.

Now I continue to get a message at regular intervals reminding me of my errors.

I have learnt my lesson I think but how can I tell my PC that!

Any ideas - I have reinstalled from the CD twice but to no avail and the system persists with this pop up message

TIA

Ron

before reinstalling the printer drivers, you must make sure that *every* piece is uninstalled. You will probably have to go through something like this:

1- Uninstall
2- Reboot
3- remove stray files and directories
4- reboot
5- confirm that your printer is no longer there
6- reboot (I'm not kidding!)
7- Plug the printer in
8- if at this stage it is not auto detected, yep, reboot
9- reinstall the drivers.

I have had similar problems with HP printers and scanners, and have found this to work the best.

Hope it helps.
