47876 2002-05-09 03:01:00 I would really like to receive opinions as to which is the best to connect to and use for online chatting, webcam (friends only) etc. I am a little worried about the security of MSN Messenger (as a result of comments I have read and heard) and so have not connected up to any one. But are any of the others any better than Messnger? ICQ? Pal Talk?? Can anyone please recommend?
Thank you.

47877 2002-05-09 03:23:00 I use mostly ICQ and MSN. I find MSN to be very limiting and annoying.Don't like the fact that it doesn't have a message history
ICQ has alot of features but has annoying advertising.
Then theres AIM from AOL. Overall my experiance with it has been good.
Then you got odigo which has the ability to connect at once to most of the major chat networks (ICQ, MSN, AOL) but thats about all it does. I suggest trying them all out and use the one that suits you best.

47878 2002-05-09 04:26:00 It really all depends on what the other people use.

I use both ICQ and MSN, using msn more often because others don't like icq.

47879 2002-05-09 05:25:00 I use Paltalk for voice & video coz i am on ADSL and Netmeeting doesn't like firewalls, NATs and router. Easier to config with paltalk. more instant features in webcam controls than Netmeeting. Guest (0)

47881 2002-05-09 11:31:00 Craig, get ICQ Plus from www.download.com

I always have 2 - just depends what the others have. If they have X and you have Y .. its not gonna be a happy marriage so it all depend on the other person. I use MSN and ICQ.

ICQ good for SMS cellphone. MSN is quicker than ICQ. Occasionally each have some server downs or times when u can see the person but the person never received ur msg (both progs happens MSN more than ICQ in my experience).

47882 2002-05-09 12:02:00 Hi JC,

I can highly recommend Trillian another multi-connect messaging program. I connect to MSN and ICQ regularly with this and it can also connect to AOL, Yahoo and IRC as well. It saves having so many different programs cluttering up drive, memory and system tray space. Also it addresses my pet peeve with MSN as it saves conversations in real time: you don't have to remember to manually save the conversation before closing the window (I've lost a few conversation logs that way) :-( Check it out at http://www.ceruleanstudios.com

Cheers,
Rod.
