| 48216 | 2002-05-12 00:18:00 | john- you missed the 'move folder' button :) robo- 'i have a cunning plan my lord. sod off baldrick !' ;-) <blackadder> i have all my temp folders and data folders all on d: drive but i think the main problem with ie TIF is the sheer size of it. it gets slow enough at 80 meg let alone running it at 200meg. i dislike the idea of zero cache. it takes way to long to load a fresh page. some pages are so big it takes 5 minutes to load new but about 20 sec to load out of cache. |

| 48217 | 2002-05-12 11:32:00 | Hey Robo, Why not give the Ram Disk a shot, it definatley works for Netscape as I said,so there shouldn't be any reason why IE won't work, as long as you can relocate the folder from the browser. Besides memory is a lot faster than a HD, although, unless you have excessive amounts of Ram, it keeps the size down a bit. I don't have any problems with reasonable backtracking with a 60MB drive. |

| 48218 | 2002-05-13 02:59:00 | You could try checking out a partitioning utility called Partition Commander 6 (v-com.com) which has been mentioned in 1 or 2 postings on this site recently. Apparently it is not free but there might be a free trial version. If cache control is your goal you could also check out CacheSentry. Start with Tweak'e's posting 'Cache Sentry' on 21/4, and it has been mentioned in other postings in the past month or so. If you want to bone up on cache management then the info links at the CacheSentry site are very good. According to them earlier versions, at least, of IE made a poor fist of this, and you might find that running CS achieves the sort of efficiencies you seek. |
