48324 2002-05-11 15:09:00 Can anyone tell me a foolproof way, short of ripping my computer apart, to find out whether my CPU is a P4 'NORTHWOOD', or the cheaper Williamette version? Guest (0)

Sisoft Sandra I think will tell you the type of CPU, but if you don't want to download the whole program just for that (its 8mb) theres a little utility called wcpuid (What CPU ID) that's about 150k and will identify all sorts of things about your CPU. Do a search either on Download.com or Google for wcpuid and you should find it. (Search Download.com, because I think it should be there).

48326 2002-05-12 00:21:00 The URL for WCPUID is <www.h-oda.com with the download location at <hp.vector.co.jp

It's a very good program.
